SHANKLIN FIREFIGHTERS RAISE OVER £2,700 FOR GRENFELL TOWER RESIDENTS

Fire fighters from Shanklin Fire Station held a charity car wash event and managed to raise more than £2,700 for the London Evening Standard Grenfell Tower Dispossessed Fund. The fire fighters washed more than 200 cars in just five hours under the hot sun. However, the fire fighters were not alone as Bob Sealy, the Island MP, was also there to contribute as he joined in to assist the car wash efforts at some point. He was accompanied by Chris Quirk and Michael Beston.

Former Chief Fire Officer of the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Steve Apter praised the efforts of the fire fighters. Steve is currently one of London’s most senior officers at the moment and he stated that it was good to see the station where his career began doing all it can to help others as he called the team at Shanklin amazing.
