If you’ve ever thought about working for Marks & Spencer, this might be your chance as the retail giant is about to start recruiting staff for its store in Skegness. The new food store is located on Burgh Road but an opening date hasn’t been announced yet. The store will be on a retail park that is located where the club ground for the Skegness Town Football club once stood. You can express your interest in taking one of the jobs through a web page that has been set up by M&S. Anyone who has registered their interest will receive an alert automatically from the site as soon as the jobs are advertised.
The retail park on Burgh Road will have other stores there too including Pets at Home, a Marston’s pub and restaurant and an Aldi. It is expected that the retail park will create more than 200 new jobs when all is said and done. The Twelve Oars, the Marston’s pub and restaurant is already in the process of recruiting staff and is expected to open in July. Some of the jobs that have been advertised for include kitchen assistants, cleaners, bar staff, waiters/waitresses, second chef, line chef and assistant manager. Apart from a complete pizza kitchen, The Twelve Oars will also have a dedicated menu for grilled food and this will offer various prime steaks and chargrills.
The restaurant clientele will get more than just a great eating experience as an open plan pizza kitchen will be in place so customers will be able to watch as the pizza is being prepared. Louisa Whitehead, the new manager at the pub has described this as an exciting time for Skegness as the Twelve Oars starts to take shape. She expects that when everything is completed, it will exceed people’s expectations. She also described the job as a great opportunity for herself and something she could choose to focus on for the long term.
Before 2011, there had been a Marks & Spencer clothes store which was located on Lumley Road and the national brand had been missed by the town’s residents since it closed down. The developers of the scheme were Quora and its purpose is to fund the move of the football club to a brand new stadium located on Wainfleet Road.
