Lendy steps in to save Cowes Week fireworks

For weeks, everyone was unsure whether Cowes will be getting its yearly display of fireworks, a much-anticipated show by now Lendy has stepped in as title sponsor, ensuring that the show will go on. The finale has now been named Lendy Cowes Week Fireworks. The Cowes Fireworks Committee which consists of Cowes Week Ltd, the Isle of Wight Council, Cowes Town Waterfront Trust and Cowes Business Association extended their gratitude to Lendy and others who helped with the effort to raise money for the event.

Apart from Lendy, this year also has several other key supporters including Cowes Week Ltd, Red Funnel, Cowes Town Waterfront Trust and local yacht clubs. Since the early days of the regatta, the fireworks display has taken place on the last Friday of Cowes Week. Many people see it as one of the most important parts of the festivities. This year, the display will be on August 4th from 9.30 in the evening.

Kate Johnson, the commercial and marketing director for Cowes Week Ltd stated that they were extremely happy with the Lendy’s move to not just become the primary sponsor of this year’s event but to also commit to sponsoring the next two events. She also added that the fireworks display for this year will have a mostly blue theme and this was done as a thank you to Lendy whose main brand colour is blue.

Liam Brook, the director and co-founder of Lendy stated that they were happy to be able to avail the funding needed to ensure the fireworks display went on this year as planned. He added that the fireworks are what Cowes Week was all about and they didn’t want the fireworks to be absent in the first year of Lendy sponsoring the festival. There will also be other forms of entertainment for those planning to attend Lendy Cowes Week on August 4th. This includes a display from the well-known Red Arrows which will be taking place at half past 7 in the evening. The red arrows show is supported by Artemis Investment Management.
