The Johnston Press South Business Awards were held in Brighton last night, 30th Sept 2017, and people turned up in droves, dressed in their very best attires. This awards ceremony is held every year and this time it was being hosted at The Grand Hotel which located on Kings Road in Brighton. The awards show is meant to celebrate the best of Sussex Coast’s business performers. This is the sixth year since the very first awards event which is organised by JP South Events. Nick Wallis, the presenter from BBC One was there to present the awards.
Speaking about the event, Wallis said that it was fantastic that the awards show was getting as much support as it was and that the enormous support just demonstrated how vital it was for the businesses in the area to be supported even when the economy wasn’t performing at its best. The evening started with a drinks reception and a three-course meal at half past six in the evening. The official handing out of the awards started at half past nine.
Fin and Farm received the first award which was for customer service. The company delivers fresh local produce to commercial and home kitchens in Hove and Lewes and Brighton. Richard John Hair and Beauty Salon sponsored the category with the award being presented by Richard John. The Nature Shop won the award for best start-up business and Wallis described the owners as people who are passionate about their products. The category was sponsored by MASS Productions Events Ltd with two representatives from the company presenting the award.
The Nigel Greaves Gallery sponsored the innovation award which was presented by Nigel Greaves. The award went to ETI who are based in Worthing and produce more digital thermometers than anyone else in the UK.
Luv Carpets won the award for the Small Business of the Year and Wallis stated that it was good seeing young men growing a small business with a passion and ambition to reach local and wider markets. This award was presented by Storm’s Stefan Buss and can be entered by any firm which has more than nine employees. The Big Lemon took home the award for The Green Business while the Richard John Academy won the Training and Development award.
Bexhill Electrical clinched the award for best medium sized business. You can view the full list of award winners on the event’s website.
