So You’ve Gone on Holiday and the Sun Isn’t Shining

We’ve all been there: you book a holiday in the hope that the sun will be shining you’ll get outside in your shorts but the instant you arrive, there is a big black cloud overhead. At first, it may feel as though your holiday is ruined – after all, how can you take a trip to the beach when the sky is grey and the ground is damp?

It’s good to know that all is not lost, though. Although it may not be the holiday you were expecting, there are some things you can do to keep your spirits high and make your holiday one to remember.

Shift Your Focus

Firstly, you need to shift your focus. So put away the sun lotion and get out your raincoat. Now is not the time for sadness; it is the time to seize the moment and make the most of what you have around you. Take a look at the attractions available. Although you may be holidaying in peak season, people still live in the area during off-season months, and there will be plenty of wonderful things to do.

Take a look at what is going on in the theatre. Regional theatres can be full of exciting hidden gems that you may never have known existed if you hadn’t have taken a look. You might find a local theatre company or even a band that will become your favourite for years to come. If you’re a foodie, you could explore local restaurants. Plenty of incredible chefs have great restaurants near the coast, and they will definitely still be serving during a hailstorm. If you’re near to Padstow, you might want to take a look at The Seafood Restaurant, which has been a staple in the town for decades and is owned by celebrity chef Rick Stein.

Take Time to Relax

Take time to relax – that’s why you’ve come away after all. Whether relaxing means picking up a good book or sneakily watching the latest episode of your favourite show, finding five minutes to yourself could be the very thing you need. If you manage to get a small amount of time for yourself, why not use it to try out some new games on your phone? Rather than going to the beach, you could head to the casino on your phone, Bonus Finder makes it really easy to find a UK casino, and also takes the time to detail the bonuses and welcome offers available on different platforms – as well as, importantly, the different types of games you can play. By giving yourself a distraction, you will soon forget all about the rain.

If you have a car, you might want to look at what you can do outside of your seaside resort. There may well be attractions which are undercover and great for young children. For instance, if you have gone all the way to Cornwall for your holiday, you might want to take a trip to Newquay Zoo. They have animals under cover as well as outside, and you might get a peek at their young Carpathian lynx cats. Yes, they are adorable. And once you get there, you probably won’t mind getting a little soggy. You may also find that fewer people are about due to the weather, which may mean that you get closer to the animals.

You might think that your holiday is ruined by a little bit of rain but by programming your brain, you can still make sure that it is the relaxing getaway that you needed. Even if you don’t return with a tan, at least you make sure that you got the best out of the break that you deserved.
